Review 21: Evangelical Feminism: A New Path to Liberalism? (Wayne Grudem)

A compelling survey of relevant texts on biblical themes of feminism, marriage, and family.

I agree with the basic arguments and exegesis of relevant texts. In fact, the sound exegesis Grudem provides (contra evangelical fem's) is the best part of the book.

Yet, I wonder how useful his terminology is, or how much good it will do to its target audience (evangelical feminists who are still wary of liberalism). What is a liberal? This is not addressed. Why is this so bad? This is not addressed.

A more foundational work on presuppositions would have been more helpful on addressing the 'road to liberalism.' Even then, would evangelical feminists LISTEN to Grudem? I don't think they would; thus, I fear the basic goal of this book is a waste of time.

Also, how many books has Grudem going to devote to this theme? How much time? I think there is danger in spending one's life in controversy. I believe Grudem is forced into such a stance by spending so much time near the evangelical feminist camp. At some point, one has to move camp near more encouraging fellowship.
